ART SHOW EXHIBIT
Opening Reception: March 13, 2020 6-9 PM
Exhibit: March 13 - April 3
Exhibited to critical acclaim in cities in the Southern states from Richmond to Atlanta to Jacksonville and Tampa. Richmond Times-Dispatch wrote in a review: “Prins’ mixed media works probe the notion of trauma and healing, destruction and rebirth. She slashes or burns her canvases, then repairs the wounds with wire stitches that branch off like waterways or coalesce surprisingly into crosses. She colors the canvases beneath the suture-like stitches with the bruised tinges of healing flesh, the blackened effect of a burn, the signals of pain that precede recovery, metaphors she naturally associates with life. Prins’ work voicelessly discloses a self portrait.”
In addition, The other series A Leaf in the Wind series will be on exhibit. Prins created during a residency in India in ’16/‘17 shortly after her son passed away. As if to dispel her sadness these paintings, images of Indian leaves in Sumi ink on a watercolor ground, are filled with color. Several are included in a book A Leaf in the Wind with her son Jaro ajer’s poems. Rose Marie Prins will read a selection of her son’s poems at opening on March 13. The book is available for sale .

ART SHOW Opening: Mad Hatter's Dream
October 18, 2019
Come join us at the Origami Air Art Studio for The Mad Hatter's Dream! This whimsically demented art show is inspired by the eccentric characters from the Lewis Carrol novel, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”. We are featuring award winning artists, Vicki Chelf and Sandra Lefever. This art show will be filled with fantastic figurative paintings, magical art designs, and origami top hats that integrate the darkness and playfulness of the Mad Hatter's dream.
The exhibition will be open for two weeks after the opening reception for all of our friends who couldn't make it. We look forward to seeing you down the rabbit hole!
September 27, 2019
The Body Spectrum is a collaborative fine art experience between local Sarasota artists Dana Laag and Mary Sencabaugh. Combining Laag's background in psychology and Sencabaugh's education in physics, the two artists use color and geometry to explore patterns in the natural world and the female form.
Join us for the opening reception on Friday, September 27th from 6-9. The show will run until closing on October 6th.

Origami Air Art Gallery is pleased to announce its inaugural exhibition, 12 X 12 Observed, with exhibiting artists Lucy Barber and Lori Loveberry George. Barber and George are collaborating in their first two-person painting exhibition. The Gallery is located on Patterson Drive one block east of Tamiami Trail and one block north of Ringling College.
All works in the show are 12” x 12” in size and are perceptual works based on observation.
Barber’s series of works includes “farm to easel,” vegetables and fruits from Sarasota’s farmers market and local sources. Barber says of her painting process, “The sensation of seeing and experiencing the moment whether embraced by objects or things, provides revelations that travel to the canvas. It’s like going from black and white to color in a palette of transformation – all history comes to life here.”
George’s paintings and mixed media are based on a summer 2017 solo road trip from Sarasota to Montana. George comments, “my work maps intimate observations and reflections of identity, place, spaces and objects: an exploration of…personification of the human experience, and overcoming the fear of uncertainty...”
Origami Air Art Studio aspires to create an enduring passion for fine arts in the Sarasota/Bradenton community, bringing global attractions, artists and venues to their location. The gallery and studio is conveniently located, and is very close to Ringling College and the Ringling Museum of Art.
